OUR APPROACH

YOUR STORY IS...

VALUED

Your story belongs to you. You can share as little or as much of your story as you wish. We do not need to know your story for you to benefit from these programs.

CONFIDENTIAL

Except for where the law requires it, or by your permission, the parts of your story that you choose to tell us will not be shared by us.

SUPPORTED

If after attending one of the programs, you wish to meet on a one to one basis to continue working on your goals, then we can.

PROGRAMS

Join us in our science experiments to understand anger. Work to discover what anger is, where it comes from, and some healthy ways of coping with it.

There are many different phrases to describe someone who is angry: hot tempered, hot headed, has a short fuse, flips his/her lid, sees red and flies off the handle. But what is anger? Where does it come from? Why can it be so hard to deal with? Let’s look at the science behind anger, some of the things that can make you feel angry, and some tips on how to handle those angry feelings.

Everybody faces different storms throughout their lifetime. Sometimes these storms can be overwhelming and difficult to get through. In this program you will have time to think about who can support you through a storm, what some warning signs of a storm might be, and you will have the opportunity to create your own personalised Endure Kit.

Are you ever left home alone? Or home with only your siblings? Then this short course is for you. This course is all about how to be safe when your parent/guardian is not home. It covers what to do in different emergency situations, making a home routine, Internet and telephone ideas, the dos and don’ts of house keys and some ideas to help with feeling scared.

A safety plan is a plan that is made to keep people safe. For example, when the fire alarm goes off everybody leaves the building on a specific route and meets outside, safe and away from the danger of a possible fire. Sometimes, there are other dangerous situations that make us feel scared for our safety or for the safety of our family. While these events are happening, it can be very difficult for us to think straight, which makes it hard for us to make good decisions that keep us safe. This is where a safety plan comes in. For a safety plan, we take time to think about the situation, what actions would best keep us safe and how we can get help. Having a safety plan that we practice can help us to act quickly and keep ourselves safe if the dangerous event ever happens.

What is feeling anxious like? What makes a person anxious? Why does anxiety stop a person from being able to do some things? Through activities, arts and crafts and discussion, discover how your brain and body work together to create anxiety. With this understanding, we will look at some ideas on how to reduce your anxiety when it is happening too often or at the wrong time.

Losing someone or something you love is very hard and everybody reacts differently to the loss they have experienced. A loss can affect every part of us from our physical body to our emotions. Through some activities, we can explore how you are reacting to your loss and look at some ideas that may help you in this difficult time.

Is the program you joined us for finished? Or do none of the programs apply to you? You can still connect with us one to one and find out what support we can offer you.
